Tractor Puller Rules

All tractors will have wheelie bars or will not pull. Wheelie bars are to be extended backwards 32". No higher than 10" off the ground with a minimum 5" square pad to be spaced 20" apart minimum and support the tractor in its heaviest class, If wheelie bars do not hold, 12" chain will be used.
 
  1. Drivers must be 18 years or older (drivers 14-17 must have written consent at pull.)
  2. Obvious or excessive consumption on alcoholic beverages and foul language will be grounds for disqualification.
  3. Drivers must be firmly seated at all times and in an upright or forward position. No bouncing permitted. Must have one hand on steering wheel except when operating hand brake.
  4. All antique tractors must be stock appearing. Heisler heads and manifolds are OK. Classics allowed power blocks and heisler heads and manifolds. No diesel tractors converted to gas.
  5. Tractor must be 1938 or older for antique or 1939-1959 classic. Any tractor in question as to being 1959 or older must have a serial number in the proper place that can be easily read. Any tractor that has a serial number or other parts to make a newer tractor appear legal will be disqualified. I.H. serial numbers will be taken from the toolbox. Fly wheel must be the same model as the tractor. Tractors must be of a 2 wheel type.
  6. All fans, PTO or exposed moving parts, must be shielded.
  7. No essential equipment can be removed. Fenders shall be required on standard tread tractors. Fenders on row-crop tractors are optional
  8. All tractors without wheelie bars must pull in low gear, and use the chain, not to exceed 3.5mph. All tractors with wheelie bars may pull in any gear, but not to exceed 3.5mph.
  9. Minimum drawbar length, 18" from center of rear wheel to point of hook, measured horizonally. Drawbar to stationary in all directions. Maximum height of drawbar, 20" from top of hitching point parallel to ground. Hitching hook on sled must fit freely in hooking device on tractor. Tractor must be in neutral and puller's hands in the air when hooking and unhooking.
  10. Gasoline or diesel only. (any pump fuel)
  11. Any engine speed over 10% standard RPM will be grounds for disqualification. RPM's will be checked when throttle is in full open postion. Throttle will be opened by the judge. Also 10% for classics. Southwestern IA Tractor pull RPM specifications will be official. all engine speeds will be checked. All certification stickers must be displayed on the left side of the tractor.
  12. All weights must be safely secured to the tractor and must not extend beyond 11" forward from the center of the rear axle. Weights must be in an orderly arrangement. If anything falls off the tractor, (weights or parts) while hooked to sled, disqualification will result. Antique and Classic tractors will not use liquid ballast for weights.
  13. Weight classes and tire size limits. 14" rim maximum for 3500 - 6500 for antiques. No radial tires allowed. Unlimited rim width for open class 1939 - 1959. No diameter limit. Antique and classic tractors combined will pull 3500 and 4000 classes. Special open classes - pay entry fee- take out sled fee - MUST pull in 2nd or higher gear. Paybacks 3-4 places
  14. Tractors must stop immediately upon red flag from judge or be disqualified. If tractor stops within the first 25' he or she can restart. Only the first puller may change the weights around. Any tractor going out of bounds, distance is measured where tractor or sled goes out.
  15. No one allowed on the track except officials and pullers
  16. Only one pull allowed each tractor unless a tie is declared in top placing tractors. If disqualification is ruled on top placing tractor, all others move up in placings.
  17. Protests must be made before tractor in question leaves the track by a puller in the class.
  18. Any non-certified tractor will have to weigh tickets at the pull. All members must have certified tractors.
  19. If you miss your turn in line you go to the end of the line. First puller of each class will have the option of repulling at the 3rd measured distance. Decidision to repull must be made before unhooking on first pull.
  20. All protests and track judges decisions will be final.
  21. Tractors must be operated in a safe manor off and on track with maximum of 4mph.
  22. The track must be of dirt. no gravel or concrete
  23. The track must be bladed after each person pulls.
  24. We will roll dice to decide what position you sign up to pull. this way no one is always going first.
  25. All pulls will go from light to heavy, on pulls that are for points on non-point pulls it is up to whomever is putting the pull on.
  26. No stroked motors in Division 2
  27. $50 fee for mechanical protests. If tractor is found not to be in violation, protestor will forfeit $50 fee to tractor owner.
