V-8 modified Rules

All general rules apply

All drivers enter class at own risk

tractors must be 1959 or older
-
no riders on tractors except for the driver
-
one single 4bbl carburetor no fuel injection
-
maximum tire size 18-4-38 any cut and rim width
-
5000 RPM/ governed by M.S.D. Rev. limiter with chip or working governor
chip must be easily accessible, club will have a chip that can be used at discretion of tech officials. 410 cid for small blocks. 505 cid for big blocks with a 2% allowance Inline 6 cyl and v-6 allowed (Small blocks are allowed 5500 RPM, trying for 2015 Season)

Mandatory engine kill switch must also kill power to electric fuel pump if equipped

Under 15mph speed limit if sled not equipped with safety kill override, 4 point harness safty belt, helmet, and roll cage (added 3/3/2018) otherwise there is no speed limit. But still subject to sled owners discretion. Sled owner will watch speed and enforce, if there is one. You will be allowed 1 warning.

Front weights to extend no farther than 11ft. From center of rear axle.

No superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous oxide allowed
-
No methanol alcohol, No nitro or nitro based fuels allowed. Racing gas and E85 allowed.

Drivers to be 16 years or older. Ages 16 and 17 need written parents consent and adult super vision to pull. Age 10 can pull Division II and age 14 can pull division III if they are safe and can handle the tractor with parent consent. (added 3/3/2018)

Exhaust to extend at least 1' above hood vertically

Must have stock sheet metal in stock place with stock appearance

Stock appearing wheel base with center line at front axle no more than 12” from stock location

Narrow front end allowed wide front recommended

No aluminum frame rails

Stock frame rails or like replacements allowed.

Wide front rules. 1. must be 4' min width measured at outside of tire. 2. if wide is not mounted solid to tractor must have stops at frame to limit movement to half an inch each side. 3. 150lbs weight allowance for a tractor with a wide front.

Must use cast iron block and heads
-
Must have wheelie bars 10” max height minimum 20” between pads min. 5”x5” pad
-
Must have tie bars to hold tractor together in case of clutch housing failure optional
-
Clutch and flywheel must be shielded 360 degrees by 1/2” ASFI Bellhousing, or safety blanket. Drive shaft couplers or u-joints must be shielded min. 1/4” steel.

Must have side shields covering spark plugs down to frame, balancer must be shielded 360 degrees belts must be shielded side shields 1/16” steel 1/8” aluminum

Must have deadman throttle with 2 return springs
-
Fenders required and must support weight of driver
-
Fenders have a 50lbs weight allowance
-
Hitch height 20” max must be 18” or more back from center of axle Adjustable hitches to be stationary in all directions

Must have working air cleaner under factory hood
-
All engines to have plastic or electric fans
-
Fire extinguisher mandatory
-
All tractors to have working brakes
-
Auxiliary transmission allowed. Automatic transmissions allowed, but must stay in one gear no shifting allowed.

Rollover protection or roll cage recommended if equipped must use seat belt and helmet

All tractors must have a supporting backrest on seat. The seat needs to be a tall high back seat to at least athe middle of their back. (modified 2/22/14)

All tractors subject to inspection at all times by SWIATP officials

All rules to be enforced by SWIATP officials. Any unforeseen problems and oversights will be ruled on by SWIATP officials on attendance. Rulings will be final.

Rules will be in effect for the pulling year with exception of safety rules to be changed as necessary

No differential lock
-
Shifting can be used if it is ok by the sled owner (added 2/27/2016)

SWIATP RULES
All NATPA Rules apply except for the following (www.natpa.club):
Obvious or excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and foul language will be grounds for disqualification.
No one allowed on the track except officials and pullers.
If you miss your turn in line you go to the end of the line. First puller of each class will have the option of re-pulling in the 3rd position. Decision to re-pull must be made before unhooking from the sled on first pull.
Kill switches are not mandatory for our club in Division II. (added 2/27/2016)
The track must be roped off for insurance purpose.
You roll the dice for your position when you sign up.
No Stroked motors in Division II
$50 fee for mechanical protests. If tractor is found not to be in violation, protestor will forfeit $50 fee to tractor owner.
All tractors with welded hubs are required to have 4 welded gussets. Tech committee will inspect, and pullers will be allowed to pull at their first event without gussets if deemed safe by the tech committee. (added 2/22/14)
